Overview
This tutorial shows how to set a ChangeMyIP HTTP proxy on Android Wi-Fi networks. ChangeMyIP provides datacenter and residential proxies with HTTP/HTTPS and additional protocols. Android Wi-Fi proxy settings are per-network and apply to apps that respect the system proxy. Some apps bypass Wi-Fi proxies, so verify each app after setup.
Steps
- Log in to ChangeMyIP and note the HTTP proxy host, port, username, and password.
- On your Android device, open Settings > Network & internet > Internet.
- Tap the gear icon next to the connected Wi-Fi network.
- Tap Edit or the pencil icon.
- Expand Advanced options.
- Set Proxy to Manual.
- Enter the ChangeMyIP host in Proxy hostname.
- Enter the ChangeMyIP port in Proxy port.
- If required, enter your ChangeMyIP username and password in the proxy authentication fields. Android versions vary; if no fields appear, use an app that supports authenticated proxies.
- Tap Save.
- Open a browser and visit an IP-check page to confirm the ChangeMyIP IP is visible.
- Test your target apps. If an app ignores the proxy, configure the proxy inside the app or use a compatible proxy client.
- To switch locations, edit the Wi-Fi proxy settings and enter another ChangeMyIP endpoint.
