How to Set Up ChangeMyIP HTTP/HTTPS Proxies on Windows

Overview

This tutorial shows how to route Windows traffic through HTTP/HTTPS proxies from ChangeMyIP. ChangeMyIP provides datacenter and residential proxies, including rotating IPs, with HTTP, SOCKS5, Shadowsocks, Trojan, DNS, and WireGuard protocols. Use the host, port, username, and password from your ChangeMyIP account. Windows built-in proxy settings work well for simple HTTP/HTTPS forwarding, while Proxifier is useful when apps do not respect system proxy settings or when authentication is required.

Steps

1. Sign in to your ChangeMyIP account and note the proxy host, port, username, and password for an HTTP or HTTPS endpoint. If you need a specific country or city, choose an endpoint from the locations available in your plan.
2. For system-wide HTTP/HTTPS proxying, open Start > Settings > Network & Internet > Proxy.
3. Under Manual proxy setup, turn on Use a proxy server.
4. Enter the ChangeMyIP proxy address and port. If your endpoint requires authentication and Windows does not prompt, continue to the Proxifier steps below.
5. Click Save, then open a browser and visit an IP-check page. If the displayed IP matches your ChangeMyIP endpoint, system-wide proxying is working.
6. For per-app or authenticated proxying, download and install Proxifier from the official source.
7. Open Proxifier and go to Profile > Proxy Servers > Add.
8. Enter the ChangeMyIP host and port, select HTTP or HTTPS as the protocol, and add your ChangeMyIP username and password.
9. Test the proxy in Proxifier and save it.
10. Create a Proxification Rule under Profile > Proxification Rules. Set applications to the ones you want to route, and choose the ChangeMyIP proxy as the action.
11. Verify that the target application uses the ChangeMyIP IP. If it does not, check the rule order and make sure the application is not bypassing the proxy.
12. To rotate IPs, switch to a different ChangeMyIP endpoint or use a rotating endpoint if your plan includes one.
